As far as we can tell, this is only the second boat in cache on Flaming Gorge. The cache is in a small bay between the private Dutch John Dock and Mustang Ridge boat ramp. The cache is about 100 feet above the high water mark. There is a dirt road near the bay, so this cache is accessible via land, however, we boated to the site. The 3.5 terrain rating is for the difficulty reaching the cache. Cache is a large tupperware container that has "Take a Holladay Geocache" written on it in marker. We were going to use this container to replace one of our other caches, but that one turned out to be okay, so we just recycled the container. Don't let this confuse you! Please trade fairly and avoid "geocrap" like used golf balls and McToys. Good luck and happy caching! |

Went to a family renunion at Flaming Gorge this weekend. Geocached all weekend. Had a little trouble finding this one, didn't look in the right spot. TFTC, TNLN

Went rowing and foud this one today with Frog Lover and Scottypipery. We had looked at trying to get this cache for 3 years, but finally found it!! It was a great hide, but our difficulty was in getting to the cache, since we are river rats, not boaters. But we were brave and launched our raft at the picnic area and rowed around three points and up the cove to finally get this one. We always stock the caches to capacity before we leave and we did that on this one also.

We found this one, but I don't recommend the land route unless you have taller boots to avoid the weed seeds. Interesting hiking through a totally burned forest. Trade stuff left behind was disappointing so we TNLN. TFTC

A great cache. Found it while boating with a youth group. A wonderful location.
