James Edward Lundy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 17th, 1964, the second son of Barbara Marie and Leonard Lawrence Lundy. After completing his work at Forest View High School, Arlington Heights, Illinois, he entered Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. In May of 1986 he completed a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. During the following years he was employed as an Electrical Design Engineer with Texas Instruments, Inc., Dallas, Texas, and later with Tandem Computers, Inc., Austin, Texas. In September, 1994, He entered The Graduate School at The University of Texas.
